I realised today that the school holidays are starting which means six weeks of pure hell! I wish there were countrywide 'kid katchers' instead of dog catchers! I used to enjoy school holidays when my two were young but now I suffer so much aggro from the neighbours kids, it almost leaves me suicidal! I've already had them playing...

According to a newspaper report homeowners must let council inspectors in to check everything from pot plants to fridges.
A report in The Sun say a list of 1043 powers of entry, bought in by Labour ministers, were released by the Home Office.

The checks include: keeping rabbits, too high hedges, whether your fridge has the correct EU energy rating and I kid you not - a sweep to see if you have weapons of mass destruction! You can be fined if you refuse...

Benefit claimants could be forced to pick up litter and erase graffiti under plans to be unveiled by ministers.

The Welfare Green Paper is set to include proposals to force those unemployed for more than two years to work full-time in the community.

Incapacity benefit will be scrapped as part of a scheme to get more people claiming the benefit back to work.

Big Brother...the non-reality TV show has finally been given the heave ho! Falling ratings has finally forced the powers that be to axe this abysmal apology for entertainment.
No-one could accuse me of being elitist but even I have standards

When we moved from a very rural area nearly 3 years ago I decided I would take an interest in all sorts of things. Now living in a rural area as I did, there wasn't a lot going on. Certainly not a lot that you could actively take part in. There may have been an historical society or a reading room but not much else. To keep my brain alive I was a goevrnor of a couple of schools and at one of them I was the chairman. I enjoyed that role as it was interesting and involving. But that apart...

At last a touch of sanity.....

It is reported in the Daily Express that Swindon Borough Council is to challenge the Government on the issue of speed cameras as they say there are better ways to improve road safety.
They threaten to stop funding the devices and spend its £400,000 road safety budget on other initiatives such as activated warning signs, better road engineering and education.
They council say its just a blatant tax on the motorist and motoring groups...
