Watched some of this earlier on BBC2 reminded me of a cross between The Persuaders/Hellzapoppin";Id seen it before in 1968.

Looking for title of British B Movie of Mid Fifties- May have been Wheel of Danger, Circle of Fear/Danger.

Hi, Can anyone help. Looking for the title of a British "B" movie of the mid fifties. Remember it was about motor racing, involved a severe accident & also had a supernatural theme. I remember a scene on top of an old castle . Think it was called "Circle of Fear/Danger", Wheel of Danger/Fear". Also I remember it starred a fairly famous British "B" movie actor. Anyone help??

Is he still alive? I cant find any information on him,apart from what looks like his last acting bit (1980s) was as Dan Johnson Bet Lynchs boyfriend in Coronation Street. I think he set about Len Fairclough in one scene. He always played a bit of a toughie in a lot of his roles!!! He also appeared in some DR WHO episodes. But he will always be remembered as Sladden to me, in QUATERMASS AND THE PIT!!

I think we must have missed this, well I certainly did.

Jill died on 13th May in Portugal from cancer. I thought she deserved a special mention as I know she is a favourite amongst some of the male Turnips.

I'm just reading a biography of Tony Hancock and it mentions his appearance in this film. Apparently despite a brilliant cast, it was a huge flop.

Can anyone help identify this film ? Iam pretty sure that this was in the title of this western movie which I saw in the 50s as a kid. I seem to recall that there may have only been one actor in this unusual film. It was about a lone Navajo indian on the run , he was fighting for survival or something! This is all I can remember about this film except it was done in b/w, I remember the poster for the film it did show a red indian against a backdrop of probably Monument Valley.Old indian...

Deliberate Mistake?

Last night I caught a little bit of a programme on TV naming the fifty most romantic films of all time (or something similar).
But there was one strange seeming error amongst the top ten. When they showed a clip of Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast At Tiffany's", what looked like an original cinema credit was shown which clearly gave the title in big letters as "Breakfast At Tiffany". This sent me scurrying to check out which was correct and it seems...

Watched this pic this afternoon on telly, first saw it over 50 years ago and remembered it had a theme song over the credits which unfortunately I missed , today that is. I googled and found the singer was Dolores Hawkins, anyone know of her? I must admit that I have never heard of her before.

For fathers day the other week our son and daughter bought me a BFI collection of 4 dvds on documentaries of Paul Rotha, Humphrey Jennings and John Grierson and others. It is called Land Of Promise, the British Documentary Movement 1930-1950. I have watched the title documentary by Paul Rotha. It "stars" John Mills, Marjorie Rhodes, Herbert Lomas, Miles Malleson amongst others. It is about the state of Britain and the promises made after both wars to the people on housing and jobs....

Cyd Charisse RIP

Sadly the beautiful Cyd Charisse has died at the age of 86. When I was a little girl she was the epitome of the beautiful ballerina. There were never more elegant legs on show in Hollywood.

Just been browsing through the tv listings and noticed a programme called 'British B Movies - Truly, Madly, Cheaply' this Saturday on BBC4 at 9.05pm. It doesn't appear to be a repeat and promises interviews with people behind the films including Sir John Mortimer, Patricia Laffan and Michael Winner. I'm sure at least camaygirl as well as myself hope it will indeed be a 'winner'.

I watched this movie the other night. It was the one with Dana Andrews, Dick Haymes and Jeanne Craine. the question is: Was this the worst musical that Rodgers and Hammerstein ever produced. Unlike other musicals of theirs, there seems to be no thread to the songs. When you watch their other musicals there is a definite system to the way the songs go. They start with happy type songs then change to more serious songs and then you get the big song usually telling you to keep up your spirits...

I know it's '40s but I didn't see it for the first time until the '50s and I've just watched it again.

Before I started watching it, I remembered something in the film really spooked me as a child and gave me nightmares for ages afterwards and now I know what it was.

The final action takes place in the gang's HQ - an undertakers and on the wall is a huge poster for a 'Keep Death Off The Road' campaign. It's a woman wearing a black hat...

During a Med Cruise I finalised by Audrey Hepburn 'Roman Holiday' pilgrimage by visiting the 'Mouth of Truth'. The place was swarming with Japanese, and despite the 'one photo only' rule they hogged the place for yonks. Have just watched this little seen Ealing film. Not the greatest film about boxing perhaps but absolutely crammed full of great British actors and actresses.

Jack Warner, Alfie Bass, Sid James, Bill Owen, Bill Travers, Robert Beatty, Maxwell Reed, Joan Collins, Joan Sims, Kay Kendall, Bernadette O'Farrell, Sidney Tafler and many more.

Apparently it boasts the worst impersonation of a punch-drunk fighter by George Rose.

There was a TV version made in 1958...
