Alan Ladd is far too old for the part and is monosyllabic throughout.  His height keeps changing alarmingly depending on how deep the ditch or how high the box
is he standing on.

			<description><![CDATA[ Treated myself to the DVD of this film this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The usual excellent performance from Stanley Baker as a tough Mancunian detective,
plus a great supporting cast which included Donald Pleasance (pre Great Escape), Warren Mitchell (pre Alf Garnett), Billie Whitelaw and Maxine Audley. There
was the inevitable token Yank in the guise of John Crawford playing the villain, but I must admit I never realized he was actually an American in this role. I

			<description><![CDATA[ <p align="center">I watched this gem of a film on Film 4 this afternoon, I have seen it umpteen times and never tire of seeing it. A real feel good factor pic
with top notch acting from Ann Sheridan and Steve Cochran playing a &#39;goodie&#39; for a change and proving what an excellent  actor he was. If anybody
doesn&#39;t have a lump in their throat watching the final scene they should check for a pulse.

I watched him in the film &#39;Forbidden&#39; recently and although he plays the fast talking wideboy very well, I just can&#39;t take to him somehow.  He was
around a lot in &#39;50s and I remember him appearing in &#39;Film Fun&#39; comic but he dosen&#39;t seem to be remembered with the same affection as some of
the other comedy stars of the time.
