Richard Todd

Sorry to hear about the passing of Richard Todd, the other Richard who played Robin - considerably more full of years than Richard Greene when he died. I first saw the Disney film with Todd long after I encountered The Adventures, but I became quite fond of it and watched it again quite recently. I can take the Errol Flynn film, which film pundits seem to rave about - but of the one-off Robins, I prefer Todd.

Why did it have to end?

I'm so thrilled to discover there are other people who remember this show with as much affection as me, but with a whole lot more knowledge.

Just to get into the swing of things, maybe somebody could answer these questions for me (apologies if they've all been asked and answered long since)

1) why did an enormously popular show finish after only 4 years?

2) why did they change Maid Marions?

3) which Maid Marion was the better?

From news clips of O'Ferrell's (Maid Marion) death, I learned she was survived by two daughters. Anyone know if they are involved in theater? I watched Robin Hood as a kid and still enjoy the show today. John

Did any "outlaw fans" happen to watch the Emmy Awards show on Sunday September 20th? The Emmy is a US award for Television programs and actors, actresses, writers, directors, producers, etc. I don't know if it was televised world wide or just in the US.

My favorite character was O'Ferrell as Maid Marion. I have been trying to find out more about her in her last years. She lived in Monaco where she died in 1999. Was she buried in England or in Monaco? We are planning to travel to Europe and I would love to see where she lived and visit her final resting place if possible. We are also going to visit Richard Green's home in England. Anyone have any details or info that would help?

I think that Lailey's suggestion of a "Bloopers List" is a great idea, but could I suggest that each episode has its own posting? Otherwise the bloopers page could run for ever! This would also let us see which episodes have the most bloopers. I'll start off with "The Lottery" .
The form of script used for Will Sharpe's lottery banner mysteriously changes once he gets to Nottingham. All part of the series' charm!

I expect someone has already said, but I may have missed it, that "Robin Hood, Robin Hood" from "The Adventures" is used repeatedly in the film "W", about George W.Bush.
I gather it's a version released as a single (?) because it's not the same as in the programme, and a choir of children joins in.

I'm watching the early ones again, and finding more and more. Yes, there's that scene in "Checkmate" which must have been when Archie Duncan was hurt. The rest of the episode suggests it was made pretty much in chronological order because Little John then rather fades out of the story.
