Around 1966/67 (remember "The Man From Uncle", Dean Martin's turn as Matt Helm, "In like Flint " and all those post Bondian stupid spy films that Hollywood seemed obsessed with at the time? Well they were all formulaic and some were at least tongue in cheek but here's one that seemed to take itself semi seriously but not in a good way.
It was on Movies 4 Men this morning. I didn't watch it but I've seen it before. Even Shirley Eaton in a Cheong Sam couldn't save it.
"The Million Eyes Of Sumuru" (1967). George Nader, Shirley Eaton and Frankie Avalon. (Yes - you read right - Frankie Avalon in a spy movie!)
The plot is dire. The production values poor and the dialogue and some of the acting defy belief.
Strapline on the original poster - "She Rules A Palace Of Pleasure" Cue illustration of a hot girl with a whip straddling another girl on the floor who has some guy prostrate on the floor in a headlock with her thighs. Dont fuse the pacemaker if this is your thing. That's as good as it gets for you.
It is OMG, jaw droppingly awful - trust me!
There are some films like "Queen of Outer Space" (a WB favourite) which are so bad that they're good. This one is so bad it's just terrible.
It's here on You Tube and if you want to waste an hour or so of your life then go for it. But you have been warned.
A playboy (Frankie Avalon) and a CIA agent (George Nader) save the world's men from Sumuru who plans world domination by having her sexy all-female army eliminate male leaders and replace them with her female agents.
Ok - if you dont agree then name me a worse one. All entries receive a Whirligig pencil a la Crackerjack.
