We once had a rather notorious poster on here who made the Brigadier seem like Winnie the Pooh. His name was Arthur Tracy (taken from this man).

Wed 26 April 06:00 Command Performance 1937. A renowned stage singer leaves the theatre to become a gypsy after his voice weakens. Arthur Tracy (The Street Singer) and Lilli Palmer star in this romantic musical. Also stars Finlay Currie.
Incidentally it's a small world. Both Mrs Brown and I both had fathers whose favourite song came from this singer's repetoire and his special versions.
My dad's was "Marta " and her dad's was "Trees".
Marta of course was later revived by The Bachelors and Karl Denver while Trees is rarely heard these days. It used to be a favourite of pub singers who had had more than a few when I was a teen.
Where have all the lovable characters and rogues who were "piss artists" gone? Call me old fashioned!
