Does anyone know if Clinton Ford is still performing, and if so how would I find details about his shows.
Hope someone can answer this question |

I too have just read that on Wikipedia and it is very sad news indeed.
I met him in Great Yarmouth around 20 years ago after the show and he seemed a very genuine bloke. I hope he is in better health now - as I am sure we all do. Our own Ossie assisted Spencer Leigh in a biop of Ford just a handful of years ago - Spencer Leigh re Clinton Ford |

I can't even remember what my involvement was. Next time I speak to Spencer Leigh I'll check out Clinton Ford news - let's hope it's all good.

That is such sad news. I hope he recovers soon.
I saw Clinton live on stage a number of years ago, and he had lost none of his charm and had the audience eating out of his hand. He's a really good entertainer. |

I had the pleasure of Recording Clinton for an album.. One of the tracks 'Green Green Grass of home' he did a 'spoonerism' when he sang
"Arm in arm we'll walk at bray dake"
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

I have a double CD of Clinton Ford - The Pye Anthology. I particularly love the stuff he did with George Chisolm, it was hilarious, all the old songs. But he
could sing Country music as well. he was a very under-rated singer in my opinion.

I saw Clinton Ford a few years ago when he was on tour in a 1950s show with Ruby Murray and Ronnie Hilton.
Clinton was sporting a silver grey goatee beard at the time. What top entertainment - real seaside variety stuff. I have a country album of his on Oriole - circa 1962. Note it isn't listed in the Record Collectors rare price guide though. |

I posted a pic some time ago of him complete with grey goatee along with Ken Platt & Ruby Murray which I took backstage at the Wellington Pier in Great
Yarmouth back around 1984. Must dig it out and put it here.

I kept a copy of that pic, Jim, if your original is not readily to hand. I saw a similar Fifties touring show with Ruby and Clinton (but not with Ken Platt)
when it came to Basildon in Essex. The show I saw was headlined by Ronnie Hilton with Clinton and Ruby supporting.

Thanks Bria but I have found it -
Fortunately with Yuku it doesn't really matter if a picture is a little too large. I don't fancy reducing it anyroadup as they look so happy - as indeed they were. Lovely people. |

Jim, did you send a copy of that photo to the Ruby Murray site, I'm sure they'd love it.

That had never occurred to me young Judy. I see Bria has quite a bit of input with that site so I will await his suggestion.
Meanwhile, after rooting around, I have to correct an earlier statement I made. As can be seen from the ticket stub (why did I keep that? Anyroadup - to stick with the Topic - here is Clinton Ford on stage that particular evening -
Here is the ticket stub -
I also have one of Ken Platt in full flow as well as 3 others of Ruby Murray on stage if you think the Ruby Murray site would be interested Bria. I also have the theatre flyer for the show somewhere. |

That would be great if you wouldn't mind copying your other photos of Ruby. As you know, Gerald Lawrence - the administrator of www.rubymurray.org - is an occasional visitor to Whirligig and I'm certain he would appreciate anything you could input. I
did upload your group pic with Clinton and Ken Platt back in 2004 (it's currently on Page 10 of the photographs section of their Library). However the
current scan you have posted to this thread is far superior in definition, and together with the pics you took of Ruby on stage would be a welcome addition to
the collection. It's quite easy to upload to the site, Jim - or I'm sure Gerald would put them on with full acknowledgements to you if you contacted
him.

I don't wish to let this Clinton Ford topic get sidelined Bria but here are the Ruby Murray on stage pictures which I would appreciate you lifting for the
Ruby Murray site if you don't mind

Switched on this 'ere thingy.
Looked to see who's been posting. Clicked to see what Jimbo has to say about Clinton Ford. Find loads of stuff about Ruby. And today's my Ruby Wedding Anniversary! Spooky. (Well I thought so!!) |

Congratulations, Mirkwood.
I take it you didn't get married in Paris as the students were rioting there at the time. Top of the pops was "Jumping Jack Flash" by The Stones. If only you'd hung on a week to have a classic - "Baby Come Back" by the Equals. PS. Only me and Harry Roberts have done longer. |

Many thanks, Jim, for those three Ruby Murray photographs. As suggested I've uploaded them to the photograph library on Ruby's website, and added a
note to their message board crediting you for kindly sharing them. http://www.rubymurray.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=292&start=15 Although I'd
already posted it several years ago, I also added the group pic with Clinton Ford and Ken Platt, as your new scan is much improved definition from the earlier
one.

Now some years ago i had a cutting from a show she was in with The Nashville Teens . Does anyone here have that programme?

It seems an unlikely combination, but I'm sure you're right Stephen. Ruby played a seaside summer season in the 1960s with The Shadows, so
anything's possible.
