If it does not - please reduce your picture accordingly.
I have had to do this for some posts on a few occasions recently and, to be quite honest, it is becoming a bit of a drag so - come on gang - gerragrip.

I use Photobucket - others on here use such as Tinypic - anyroadup - as far as I am concerned, I use the 'edit' facility in Photobucket to reduce the size of a picture so that it fits the frame.

Took a look at Photobucket once. It frightened me to death.
Must try harder! |

It really is very simple. Follow this and you cannot go wrong.
Assuming you wish to post a pic of - say - Rita Hayworth - follow the procedure as follows - 01. Open up Google 02. In the search box type Rita Hayworth 03. Left click on 'Images' 04. Select a suitable pic - in this case, the first one and just left click on it. 05. The pic is then at the top of the page to the right of 'Google' 06. Left click upon this small pic and you will then be presented with an enlargement all on its little lonesome 07. Right click on the picture and you will be presented with various options 08. Select 'Save Image As' 09. Then you will select a folder in which to place the picture (I have a Photobucket sub folder in my 'My Documents' folder and it is this that opens up for me) 10. Give the image whatever 'File name' you want and Save it (I suggest in your case 001.jpg to start with). Each time you add pics from hereon in you just need to increase it by one. You now have a pic ready to put into Photobucket (assuming you have an account). 11. Login to your Photobucket account 12. Left click on the top 'Browse' and your Photobucket folder (in My Documents) should open up 13. Highlight 001.jpg and click on 'Open' in the bottom right hand corner 14. Click on 'Upload' and the picture will then appear in your album and you will find this by scrolling down. 15. Underneath the picture there are 4 links. Select 'Direct Link' and highlight it. 16. Right click on the highlighted link and select 'copy'. 17. Go to Whirligig and make sure you are logged in. 18. Go to the Topic where you wish to post your picture and click on 'Reply'. 19. Left click on 'Image' which is on the left hand side of where you would normally do your typed reply. 20. Right click in the box which pops up (ignore the httpthingy) and click on 'Paste' from the drop down menu - you will see that the Photobucket link that you 'copied' now appears there. 21. Click on 'OK' and you will see that it appears in the typing area. 22. Scroll down, put a tick in the Preview box and click 'Add Reply' you will see that the picture has now appeared. 23. Click on 'Add Post' and the job is done. I have tried to explain this in the same way as I like to be shown. It may look a little convoluted but, believe me, it becomes second nature after a few times. The main thing to remember is to change the title of your picture so that you are not giving it away to the people who are trying to guess who or what it is. No doubt an 'actual teckie' will come in with another method but - hey - this works for me. |

Made a serious attempt to get to grips with above, Jimbo. Followed your instructions OK to Photobucket stage.
Then entered two different user names both of which were rejected as already in use. (Someone has already pinched William Brown - bloody cheek!). Tried again with "Rumpelstiltskin" and even that was kicked into touch - same reason. By now I had lost the will to live. Expect fewer pics from me. (Sigh). |

I was wondering Jimbo if posting photos uses up too much of Mr T's allowance?
I seem to remember this being talked about a long time ago! |

Irene, I think you will find the answer is in the negative. Almost all message boards now accept photos, they are an integral part of the Net.

William - try using Tinypic which personally I think is much easier. You don't need a log in name before you can process a photo. Just put Tinypic into Google and go straight into the site and once you've uploaded you will see 4 URL addresses in boxes. Use the bottom one.

You can post as many photos as you like. Our charges are based on number of 'page views' rather than content.

I have just checked out 'Tinypic' ( tinypic.com/ ) and, as Wendy says, it is so much more simple than Photobucket. After uploading your image simply choose the bottom link as Wendy has advised - job done!

It is dead easy to reduce picture through Photobucket. The picture below was nearly 900 wide. far too wide for our pages. I have reduced it thus.
On your photobucket send page , just above browse, it says options. Click on options, you will get a list of sizes, change your setting to 320x240, now click 'save'. From now on your pictures will be ,as below.

I don't like the idea of Yuku accessing my Photobucket account which is requested if you want to put pictures on. Instead, I have tried out Tinypic.com and with this I sampled out a picture from Photobucket - clicked the IMG - copied & pasted direct into the message - it works a treat and you can resize to message/website/email sizeā¦..I think the website sized picture ideal. Try it out in preview first and then post. |
