Jimmy Clitheroe's most famous catchphrase was "Don't some mothers 'ave 'em". When he toured in his own show in Variety in the late Fifties, the show was usually titled "Don't Some Mothers 'Ave 'Em".

He also used the catchphrase "I'm all there with me cough drops", which was a Lancashire expression for someone quick-witted.

He was still using both these catchphrases in his BBC radio show, "The Clitheroe Kid", in the 1960s.
