It is with great sadness that I have to advise you I have received a phone call from
David’s wife to the effect that he died this morning in the hospice at 10 to 4.
The end was ‘very peaceful’ in that he went to sleep without any pain at all.
Jessie (David’s wife) asked me to pass on this information to the site as David had
left a ‘large note with Jimbo’s details on it’ as she doesn’t use the computer.
The funeral will take place at St. Hilda’s Church, East Goscote in Leicestershire
near where they live on August 14th at 1130am and if anyone is able to attend,
Jessie asks that they make sure they introduce themselves as David always spoke about
Whirligig with great affection and regarded ‘us’ as an extended happy family.
Should anyone wish to send a card of condolence then please send me a message through
the Yuku mail facility so that I can give details.
They still have one of their 2 sons at home so Jessie will be well looked after.
Apparently David was a very nice man (as if we didn’t know that already) and she cannot
recall him ever raising his voice.
His only regret was that when they went to RAF Waddington, his beloved Vulcan didn’t fly.
Jessie is going to phone me in about a month’s time so that I can relate the comments from
the Board to her. I will print off this message and any replies I receive and post them to
her in a week or so.
