..........I have a record collecting friend of mine who ( in my opinion rudely ( lol ) ) suggest that I collect ANYTHING .and to prove it he gave me a German Odeon 45 of a bell which tolls once.. .repeatedly.not a peel of bells..just a solitary bell.......it does that for the whole side.and when you turn it over ........it is more of the same............I have come to the conclusion that it must be a bell with religious significance
Anyway it is still in the collection...........as far as I am concerned it is a novelty record.........and I collect those
Which sort of brings me on to Oriole............I now have a large collection of the Blue ones...which when I started collecting them were virtually ignored by collectors as" worthless "
Two have arrived today.and very different they are too
Both are outside the 50's......but have more in common with that decade than the 60's.......so I shall write about them here
The first one is by ERIC WINSTONE His Orchestra and Chorus
THEME FROM THE SUNDOWNERS backed with THE SOUND OF LOVE
The " SUNDOWNERS " track is written by DIMITRI TIOMKIN
Strangely the record comes from a collection that I bought several others off from ebay from the original seller.a TAXI DRIVER in STOCKPORT .the collection was his UNCLE's............and were in universally brilliant condition..........I think he must have played them ONCE onto a reel to reel......and then NEVER played them again
So anyone able to give more info on this record ??
The friend I refered to at the start of this post was asking me if I had this next record...........No I said
.BUT....I have now
It is a version of O SOLE MIO............better known as a tune as IT'S NOW OR NEVER or JUST ONE CORNETTO
By ROBERTINO ( an Italian recording for a Danish record company ) .who was young enough when he made this record for his voice not to have broken
Released on the reintroduced BLUE International label in 1964 .........it is
.........P O W E R F U L L ...... S T U F F
