Reading some old comments on this board I see that several others feel, as I do, that the music which introduced Children's Hour programmes had a great influence on their later musical likes. As a small child in the late forties and early fifties, I even wrote to Children's Hour to ask what particular pieces of music were (and got replies)!
I remember particularly Ravel's Mother Goose Suite which introduced David Davis reading fairy tales, and Stravinsky's Symphony in Three Movements, used for a space serial (what?). I also remember a Mahler symphony, and a Dvorak symphony (not the Humoresque, which was used for something else) being used for serials - can anyone remember what?
